Medical professionals have been using PRP therapy for years as a means of treatment and to allow their patients to recover quickly after treatment.  In the last several years, medspas have been embracing the healing benefits of PRP therapy to provide natural rejuvenating results for their patients.  Dr. Beauty is excited to provide this highly effective means of treatment to our clients in the Southfield, Dearborn, and Farmington Hills area.

Below we explain more about how PRP works, and provide more general information about this treatment.  We offer you a free consultation to see how PRP could help you reach your goals.

Is PRP Like a Vampire Facial?

Yes, they are the same.  PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma and when a small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, the platelets are separated from the rest of the components of your blood and injected into the treatment area.

How Does PRP Work?

To begin PRP treatment, blood is extracted from the patient being treated.  Their blood is then treated in a sterilized environment to extract the body’s natural healing components.  Once the blood is ready, it is injected into the treatment area.  Within days and weeks of the treatment, the patient will see the full, rejuvenating effects.

Step 1: Prime Blood For Treatment

Once a small amount of blood is retrieved from the patient, it is prepared for treatment using a centrifuge: as the centrifuge spins, the blood’s platelets separate from the other components of the patient’s blood: blood preparation usually takes about 15 minutes.

Step 2: Numbing Agent Application

A topical agent is applied to the treatment area to ease discomfort during the procedure.

Step 3: Injection of Blood

Once the blood is prepared and the numbing agent has been able to take full effect, the prepared blood is injected into the treatment area.  In many cases, a microneedling tool is used to inject the blood into the treatment area.

How Can PRP Benefit Me?

PRP utilizes the body’s natural healing powers to rejuvenate tissue and stimulate cellular turnover, as well as collagen and elastin production.  The effects that aging, childbirth, and stressors have on the body can then be targeted with this healing power and their effects reduced and even reversed.  We highly recommend this treatment for anyone looking to rejuvenate the appearance of their body — tightening the skin and lifting tissue, to provide a youthful appearance.

Is PRP Safe?

Yes! This method of treatment has been used in the medical field for years to provide and enhance healing.  Because the patient’s own blood is used and prepared in a sterile environment, there is a little-to-no risk.

Is PRP Painful?

Though PRP can cause soreness, during the procedure the patient should expect to experience little-to-no pain due to the use of topical numbing agents before the treatment.
